PRACTICE AREAS: Jury trials and appeals of death and injury claims involving healthcare, motor vehicles, products, falls and insurance coverage.
EXPERIENCE: Mr. Lienhoop joined the firm of Newby, Lewis, Kaminski & Jones, LLP in 1983, became a partner in 1989, and has been a Managing Partner since 1997. He is well versed in jury trials and appeals of death and injury claims involving health care, motor vehicles, products, falls, and insurance coverage.
EDUCATION: Mr. Lienhoop earned both his undergraduate and law degrees at Valparaiso University (B.A., 1978; J.D., 1981). He served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert H. Staton, Court of Appeals of Indiana, from 1981 to 1983.
BAR ADMISSIONS: He has been admitted to the bar in (Indiana, Illinois, The Northern and Southern U.S. Districts of Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals).
AWARDS: Mr. Lienhoop has earned the highest possible Martindale-Hubbell peer review rating (AV) for legal ability and professional ethics. In 2002, he was accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (membership is by invitation only), and he has been voted by his peers as being in top 5% of all Indiana attorneys from 2004 through 2014. In 2006, Mr. Lienhoop was accepted into the International Association of Defense Counsel (membership by invitation only), and was voted by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America from 2007 through 2014. He was named Best Lawyers' 2014 South Bend Medical Malpractice Law - Defendants "Lawyer of the Year." He was accepted into the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys in 2008 (membership by invitation only).
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS: Mr. Lienhoop is a member of the following professional associations: Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, Defense Research Institute, American Board of Trial Advocates, International Association of Defense Counsel, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, La Porte County Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association. He is also a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
LEADERSHIP: Mr. Lienhoop served on the Board of Directors of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana from 1995-2001, and is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Civil Litigation Review. He served as Second District Council member of the Litigation Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. He was a contributing author to the Indiana Annotations to the Evidence Workshop Handbook, published by Professional Education Systems, Inc. and was an annual presenter of same from 1992 – 2007. Mr. Lienhoop has published approximately twenty professional articles.
