EXPERIENCE: Mr. Phillips has represented clients in cases involving personal injury (both plaintiff and defense), wrongful death and employment contracts.  He has been lead counsel in more than 100 arbitration, bench, and jury trials involving issues such as race discrimination, sexual harassment, religious discrimination, wrongful discharge, alcohol and drug abuse, wrongful layoff, disability discrimination, age discrimination, management rights, FMLA, absenteeism and tardiness, unfair labor practices, and violence in the workplace.  He has represented employers and employees in many different industries including hardware manufacturing, excavation, construction, chemical, utilities, machining, hospitals/nursing homes, hotel/restaurant, plastics, foundries, clothing, local government, schools and education.  He has also represented many employers in proceedings before state and federal administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, OSHA, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, The United States Department of Labor, The State of Indiana Department of Labor, The State of Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and The State of Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

EDUCATION: Mr. Phillips earned his undergraduate degree at Purdue University (B.S., I.M., 1972) and his law degree at Indiana University (J.D., cum laude, 1976). He is a member of the Delta Theta Phi fraternity.  He served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert B. Lybrook, Court of Appeals of Indiana (1974-1976) and is a Certified Alternative Dispute Resolution Mediator by the Indiana Commission for Continuing Legal Education.

BAR ADMISSIONS: Mr. Phillips was admitted to the bar in 1976 (Indiana and U.S. District Courts, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, U.S. Court of Appeals, and Seventh Circuit).

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS:  Mr. Phillips is a member of the following Bar Associations: La Porte City (President, 1992-1993), La Porte County, Indiana State (Member of House of Delegates, (1984-1996), Seventh Circuit Bar Association, American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Indiana Supreme Court Northwest Regional Committee on Rules of Evidence (1992-1993) and the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana.  He is also a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
